Structural Project Engineer – Vertical Structures, Inc.

Vertical Structures, Inc., is seeking an engineer with a BSCE or MSCE degree and who is specializing in structural design.

Vertical Structures provides engineering, drafting, and construction services to the wireless communications industry. The prospective employee will act mainly as a structural project engineer but will also have duties in sales and project construction management. The employee will become responsible for the analysis, design, and construction of towers, monopoles, rooftop structures, and other special structures used for microwave, cellular, and PCS communications systems. The employee will also assist in the preparation of steel fabrication and construction drawing packages for the modification of existing towers.

Communications development is becoming extremely fast paced and dynamic. The wireline and wireless telephone, cable and internet communications industries are all merging into full service voice, video, and information delivery systems. This is creating tremendous demand for construction of new transmission facilities and modification of existing facilities. Vertical Structures provides these services over the entire U.S.

This position offers the successful candidate the rare opportunity to work as a structural engineer in the high technology field of communications. The nature of the industry gives the engineer frequent opportunities to interact with a broad spectrum of clients across the nation. The position also involves occasional site visits for the purposes of field measuring, field engineering, or project management services.

We expect this person to pursue professional engineering registration. Financial assistance to relocate to the area will be provided. Most of the current employees live in either Richmond or Lexington, KY.

We are looking for a BSCE or MSCE graduate with a greater than 3.0 cumulative GPA. The candidate must have strong structural design and project management aptitude. Compensation will be in the high range for civil engineering graduates in our region with health and dental insurance, paid vacations, a 401K plan, and possible performance based year-end bonuses.

Our office is located in Richmond, KY – a city of approximately 30,000 located 20 miles south of Lexington, KY. It is home to Eastern Kentucky University, with an attendance of about 16,000 students. The city has a small town atmosphere with nice parks and golf courses nestled in rolling Appalachian foothills. Richmond is 90 miles from the much larger cities of Cincinnati and Louisville, and 180 miles to Nashville. This allows Richmond residents reasonably close access to larger city amenities such as concerts, museums, sporting events, and major airport terminals.
